Dearest Light,
I hope this message meets you well, thriving, and pressing forward in all that God has called you to do.
SATURDAY, JUNE 28TH, 2025. 5:13 A.M.
One of the greatest gifts God has given us is the ability to self-reflect. And I believe that's exactly what He wants you to do as you read this. I pray that, above all, you're honest with yourself—especially about where you stand with God.
A few days ago, I had a moment that left an imprint on me. I was playing one of Paul Tomisin’s albums when a particular track—“Maranatha”—began to play. It stirred something in me, even though I wasn’t sure what the word meant. Out of curiosity, I looked for it on the album… only to realise it wasn’t actually there. I couldn’t explain how it played. I moved on.
But the next day, the song lingered. It replayed in my heart and on my lips. I had to find out what it truly meant. So I did a little search and discovered that Maranatha means “Come, Lord.” And then—divinely timed—my Bible chapter for this morning was 1 Corinthians 16. There, in verse 22, it appeared again:
“If anyone does not love the Lord [does not have a friendly affection for Him and is not kindly disposed toward Him], he shall be accursed! Our Lord will come! (Maranatha!)” — 1 Corinthians 16:22 (AMPC)
At the heart of Christianity is this hope: Jesus Christ is coming back.
He came once as our Saviour. He will return as our King—to fulfil His promises, judge the living and the dead, and establish His eternal kingdom. This hope is not abstract. It is what gives urgency to our faith and meaning to our journey.
We live in a broken world marked by injustice, suffering, and sin. But the Good News is this: God will set all things right. He will restore creation and rule in love and peace. Maranatha is a cry of hope. It is a reminder that we are not abandoned, and that our faith is not just anchored in the past but also in the glorious future to come.
And so, here’s a quiet moment for you right in the middle of this letter. A moment to pause and ask yourself:
When last did I truly long for the Lord’s return?
What would you do differently today if you remembered that Jesus is coming back?
And if you’re unsure of what to say, if you’re wrestling with where you stand, whisper this simple prayer:
Lord, awaken my heart again. Help me love You deeply and live like You’re coming back. Teach me to trust, to surrender, and to walk in the light of eternity. Amen.
This simple word, Maranatha, calls us to long for His return. But more than that, it calls us to live in readiness. To love deeply.
To serve faithfully. To walk righteously. To let eternity shape our today.
So, dear Light, live like Jesus is coming back—because He is. Don’t blend in with the world. Don’t live as if this is all there is. You were made for more. We are pilgrims here, and home is ahead.
And if your heart feels far from God or if you've never committed to Him, please know this: He’s calling you. Right now. Come back. Or come home for the first time. Life with Him is better, richer, fuller, and eternal. He wants you to reign with Him forever.
All it takes is surrender: Believe that He died and rose again for you. Confess your sins. Accept His love. And begin to walk in the light of that love every day.
If you're hoping to grow in your walk or just need someone to talk to or pray with, please reach out. You don’t have to figure it out alone and that's one of the reasons Simi Light's Newsletter was created.
Maranatha.
Come, Lord Jesus.
Maranatha!
My answer to the first question you asked is, "Today. Just a few minutes ago. My reason was that I was in a certain position that made me think 'Can we just go to Heaven already?'"
Then I remembered that we can't go yet. During my Bible study this morning, I stumbled upon a fact that the world is filled with over 8 billion people and just 2.3 Billion are Christians.
Nah!!!! There are over 6 billion souls yet to encounter Christ. We all have a responsibility to bring these people to Christ before Christ comes.
Thank you for sharing this, Similoluwa.
P.S: Yesterday, I went through your posts and saw that you have 59 letters written consistently monthly since 2023. I want to be like you. That aside... I thought "When are we getting a new letter like this? I can't wait." For some weird reason, my heart responded with "Soon. We hva two letters for this month already but another will be published before the month ends". Imagine my shock when I got notified of this.
